Selfies Show

Grades 9&10 | Jones College Prep | Apprentice Teaching 2014

This collage project urged students to examine the "selfie" phenomenon through the lens of self portraiture. After analyzing selfies from an historical and aesthetic perspective, students made their own collages from printed selfies that they and their peers had taken. Through discussion and making, the students explored the overlap between fine art and contemporary social culture. Below are examples of the student work.
